E' morto Baudhuin Simon artista noto come Pig-DaDa
Due delle ultime performances di Pig Dada SIMON ci ha lasciato!
Simon ci ha lasciato! Una decisione personale che noi tutti rispettiamo ma che ci ha lasciati sconcertati e nel dolore. Per l’amico e per l’artista. Noi ricordiamo il nostro ultimo meeting a Minden di cui conservo e conserverò foto e documentazione varia. Un incontro che aveva cementato l’amicizia con Pig DaDa artista surrealista del network della mail art. Un network che da sempre ribadisce il senso della libertà e del non senso della mercificazione dell’arte creando un mondo parallelo a quello operante nel sistema. Forse con questo suo ultimo atto creativo ha voluto ribadire questa libertà che molti auspicano ma che pochissimi sono così coraggiosi da percorrerla sino all’estremo. Un messaggio silenzioso ma che non ammette sfumature. Sarai sempre con noi.

- Ho incontrato personalmente per la prima volta Baudhuin Simon nel 1992, qui in Italia. Già da qualche anno ci conoscevamo attraverso la Mail Art. Era già diventato Pig DaDa e fece in proposito una performance abbastanza dissacrante. I nostri scambi culturali sono durati nel tempo, ad intervalli più o meno regolari.
- Ho incontrato Baudhuin Simon in Germania, nel settembre del 2005. Non dimenticherò l’accoglienza calorosa che ci riservò all’arrivo: un incontro tra artisti, ma soprattutto tra amici di vecchia data. Piani e programmi per i prossimi incontri, in Belgio, in Italia.
- Ora so invece che lo incontrai per l’ultima volta.

I received today the news that Belgian mail-artists Baudhuin Simon has passed away on Thursday 9 March. I was not in contact with him the past years, due to reasons, but as a great wise man said. Every person who dies is another museum burned down. Will remember the good moments. I haven't got any information of cause of death as he has died very young, I believe he must be mid fifties and was living a very healthy life. Greetings, Geert

Dear Sztuka Fabryka, Wow,what a shock, I had just glanced over to see that I had a message and I saw, Baudhuin Simon's name, I thought he saw my name on the yahoo MA group list and had sent a message. I'm trying to think when the last time I wrote him. It must of been in the last 2 years, when I was living in the Stanley Hotel, in S.F.. That's very sad news. He will have been the 4th person that has passed away (that I know of) that I've known through Mail Art... Tibor Papp, Robin Crozier and Ray Johnson. I always thought of him whenever I saw a pig or pig-related merchandise and always will. Take Care, david

Sorry to hear this. I did not have much contact with Baudhuin but always amazed that he persued his own piggy vision so relentlessly for so long. His humour and porky obsession will be greatly missed by all who knew his work. A sad week indeed for losing great individual talents in all walks of life. Ivor Cutler, the poet. Ali Farka Toure, the guitarist, Linda Smith, the comedienne and now Baudhuin Simon. Michael

It's sad to hear the news. Just this past week as I was cleaning around the house I found a strip of film with a pig silhouette cut in it. It had fallen from an envelope of Baudhuin that I received during the last month. Now no more pigs.

- Ho saputo di Baudhuin e mi unisco al sentimento comune.
- Non lo conoscevo di persona ma avevo imparato ad apprezzarlo per i progetti ed i lavori che di lui vedevo spesso, così abbiamo cominciato a corrispondere.
- Con la sua scomparsa l'Europa delle lingue franco-tedesche si troverà sicuramente più povera.
